Travelling with children changes the way you experience a destination. Suddenly, it’s not about finding the most hidden beach on the island or hiking for an hour to reach a remote cove. When travelling as a family, comfort matters. You’re looking for places that are easy to access, where children can play safely and where everyone can enjoy a relaxed day by the sea.
Fortunately, Mallorca is full of beaches and coves that tick all the right boxes. Shallow waters, soft sand, easy access and nearby facilities make the island an excellent destination for family holidays.
If you’re staying at Ca’n Bonico, these are some of our favourites.
What makes a cove perfect for families?
Every family is different, but there are a few things that tend to make a beach day easier.
Easy access means less carrying of umbrellas, toys and beach bags. Calm, shallow water gives children space to play safely. And having nearby facilities such as parking, cafés or bathrooms can make all the difference.
The six coves we’ve selected offer exactly that and are ideal for enjoying Mallorca with children.
Cala Mondragó
Located within Mondragó Natural Park, Cala Mondragó is one of the most complete family-friendly beaches on the island.
The sand is soft, access is easy and the water is usually calm. The walking paths around the park also allow families to combine beach time with a gentle nature walk.
It’s the kind of place where spending the entire day feels effortless.

S’Amarador
Just a short walk from Cala Mondragó lies S’Amarador, often considered one of Mallorca’s most beautiful beaches.
Its protected natural setting, crystal-clear water and shallow shoreline make it ideal for families. While it feels slightly more natural and untouched, it’s still very accessible and comfortable for visitors with children.
The coastal walk connecting both beaches is also a lovely experience.

Cala Llombards
Small, welcoming and particularly popular with local families.
The cove is sheltered by low cliffs that help keep the sea calm, even on windier days. Its manageable size makes it easy to keep an eye on younger children, while nearby facilities add extra convenience.
It’s one of those places that many visitors return to year after year.

Cala Santanyí
Probably one of the easiest and most comfortable beaches in the area.
With easy access, nearby parking, restaurants and a wide sandy beach, it offers everything families tend to look for. The sea is usually calm and the gradual entry into the water makes it especially suitable for younger children.
A great choice for a stress-free beach day.
Es Trenc
Technically not a cove but a beach, Es Trenc still deserves a place on this list.
Its long stretch of white sand and crystal-clear water provide plenty of space for children to play and explore. The shallow waters found along much of the shoreline make it especially family-friendly.
It often feels like a Caribbean beach, right here in the Mediterranean.

Cala Sa Nau
Located on Mallorca’s east coast, Cala Sa Nau combines soft sand, pine trees and calm waters.
It’s an excellent choice for families looking to spend a full day by the sea. The cove offers a relaxed atmosphere while still providing some useful facilities nearby.
The clear water is also perfect for children discovering snorkelling for the first time.
