The largest and arguably the most beautiful of the Balearic Islands has everything you need for everyone’s favourite season: sand, sea, sunshine and delicious food. Here are some of our insider tips on how to spend your summer days and nights on Mallorca.
Beaches, beaches and more beaches
Mallorca’s southeast is home to some of the island’s best beaches, from Colonia de Sant Jordi to Es Trenc and Caló des Moro. The sand is white, the water is turquoise and best of all, they are all within easy driving distance of our hotel in Ses Salines. The small bay of Caló des Moro is a particularly beautiful spot set in a nature reserve, so it is worth exploring the area during cooler and quieter times. Note that all of Mallorca’s beaches tend to be busy during the high season, so try to arrive early—or late. Remember to bring all your essentials—including plenty of water—to the more remote beaches.
The natural look
Mallorca is a Mediterranean island famed for its 500 kilometres of coastline and over 250 beaches. But don’t forget about the UNESCO World Heritage Tramuntana mountain range that forms the backbone from the southwest to the far northwest. Kilometres of green, goats and wide open space, with countless hiking and cycling trails, although we wouldn’t advise intense sports in the heat of the summer. The dramatic landscape in the north is very different from the flat, arid plains of the south and can be enjoyed by the pretty villages of Valdemossa, Deià and Sóller. Visit these mountain pueblos surrounded by terraced fields, and olive and orange groves for a true Mediterranean experience.
Gastronomy on the island
The island has truly become a destination for discerning gourmet lovers, with a total of 11 Michelin-starred restaurants. The capital, Palma, is home to many top restaurants, including the Michelin-starred DINS, located in the shadow of the Gothic cathedral, serving first-class Mallorcan cuisine with a contemporary twist. For a sensational culinary experience in Llucmajor with another star, try the eponymous restaurant of Inca-born chef Andreu Genestra at the Hotel Zoëtry Mallorca, a manor house. In our village of Ses Salines, Casa Manolo has been serving great traditional seafood and fresh fish since 1945. Authentic and delicious.
We look forward to welcoming you to Ca’n Bonico during summer, or at any time of the year. We and the island’s sand, sea, and sunshine await. Don’t forget your sunscreen.
