And although summer is undoubtedly the island’s busiest season, there are still places where you can enjoy the Mediterranean at a slower pace.
The secret isn’t necessarily finding a beach that nobody knows about. It’s choosing the right time of day, walking a little further or venturing beyond the most popular spots. That’s often all it takes to experience a quieter, more authentic side of Mallorca.

Four beaches to discover this summer
Es Carbó
Just a few minutes from Colònia de Sant Jordi lies one of the south coast’s most beautiful beaches. Es Carbó isn’t the kind of place where you park right next to the sand, and that’s exactly what has helped preserve its peaceful atmosphere.
After a pleasant walk along the coast, you’re rewarded with soft white sand, crystal-clear water and a beach that feels wonderfully natural. There are no large beach bars or busy promenades here, just the sound of the sea and plenty of space to unwind.
Es Caragol
At the southernmost tip of Mallorca, close to Cap de Ses Salines lighthouse, you’ll find Es Caragol.
Like Es Carbó, reaching it requires a short walk, but the effort is more than worthwhile. The turquoise water and fine sand could easily be mistaken for the Caribbean, while the surrounding landscape remains beautifully wild and untouched.
Even during the height of summer, it’s still possible to find moments of tranquillity here.
Cala s’Almunia
Smaller and more intimate than many of Mallorca’s beaches, Cala s’Almunia offers something completely different.
Rather than a wide sandy beach, you’ll find a picturesque cove surrounded by old fishermen’s houses and incredibly clear water. It’s a wonderful place for swimming, snorkelling or simply enjoying the scenery. Just a short walk away lies Caló des Moro, making it easy to combine both places in a single visit. Important: you should only visit these coves first thing in the morning or at the end of the day, otherwise they will be packed.
Cala Marmols
If you’re looking for somewhere that still feels truly remote, Cala Marmols is one of Mallorca’s hidden gems.
Accessible only by boat or after a long walk from Cap de Ses Salines, it’s one of the least visited beaches on the south coast. Surrounded by striking white cliffs and deep blue water, it’s a place that reminds you how much unspoilt coastline Mallorca still has to offer.
The best way to enjoy Mallorca’s coastline
Whichever beach you choose, a few simple decisions can make all the difference.
Set off a little earlier, pack a picnic with local produce, enjoy the walk instead of searching for the closest parking space and stay until late afternoon, when the light softens and many visitors have already left.
