There is something special about Mallorca in September. Summer is still very much in the air, the Mediterranean is warm enough for a swim and terraces are still full of life, but the island is slowly returning to its usual pace.
After the busy summer months, Mallorca becomes a little quieter. The beaches are less crowded, temperatures are more comfortable and it is much easier to enjoy the island without rushing. That is why, if you are thinking about visiting Mallorca, September is one of our favourite months.
Summer is not over yet
One of the great advantages of visiting Mallorca in September is that you can still enjoy the beach to the fullest.
Daytime temperatures are usually around 27–28 ºC, while the sea retains much of the warmth accumulated during the summer. It is the perfect time for a swim, some snorkelling or simply a few hours by the Mediterranean without the intense heat of July and August.

In the southeast of Mallorca, beaches such as Es Trenc, Es Carbó and Es Caragol are particularly beautiful at this time of year. And if you arrive early in the morning or stay until late afternoon, you will enjoy them even more, especially when the Mediterranean light begins to change.
Discover Mallorca at a slower pace
September is also a wonderful time to explore the island beyond the coast.
With milder temperatures, it is much more enjoyable to wander through the streets of villages such as Santanyí, take the scenic roads through the countryside and discover some of the corners of Mallorca that can be overlooked during the height of summer.

It is also a great month for hiking and cycling. The Serra de Tramuntana, the rural paths of the south and the routes around Ses Salines offer a different way to experience Mallorca: slower, quieter and closer to the landscape.
And after a day exploring, there is always the best plan of all: finding a shady spot, ordering something cold and simply letting time pass.
More time to enjoy Mallorca’s food
September is also a delicious month for food lovers.
Markets, restaurants and terraces still have that unmistakable Mediterranean atmosphere, while the island’s seasonal produce begins to change. It is the perfect time to enjoy traditional Mallorcan dishes, fresh fish, a good pa amb oli or a relaxed dinner accompanied by a local wine.

Because discovering Mallorca also means sitting down at the table and enjoying the moment without looking at the clock.
September in Ses Salines
And if there is one place from which to enjoy Mallorca in September, it is Ses Salines.
Here, in the southeast of the island, life moves at a different pace. You can start the day with a leisurely breakfast, head to one of Mallorca’s beautiful beaches, visit Santanyí or simply stay at Ca’n Bonico, enjoying the pool and Mediterranean gardens.

Our boutique hotel is housed in a historic Majorcan manor house in the heart of Ses Salines, surrounded by Mediterranean gardens and just a short drive from some of the best beaches in southern Mallorca.
Perhaps that is the real reason why we love September so much: Mallorca still feels like summer, but it begins to feel a little more like our Mallorca.
Quieter. More authentic. And, above all, made for enjoying without rushing.
