There’s something very special about Mallorca in May. The island begins to shift into summer mode, but without the intensity of the peak season. The days are longer, temperatures are warmer and beach weather slowly returns, yet everything still feels calm and easygoing.
It’s the moment when Mallorca feels especially balanced: lively, but not crowded. Restaurants reopen their terraces, markets fill village streets with colour and the sea starts inviting you in again. For many of us, it’s actually one of the best times of the year to enjoy the island.
The best beaches to explore before summer arrives
One of the best things about visiting Mallorca in May is being able to enjoy the island’s beaches before the height of summer. The sea starts warming up, the light becomes softer and the coastline still feels peaceful.
Staying in Ses Salines places you close to some of the most beautiful beaches in southern Mallorca:
Es Trenc
Probably the island’s most famous beach, Es Trenc is known for its long stretch of white sand and crystal-clear water. In May, it still feels calm enough to properly enjoy its natural beauty.

Es Carbó
A quieter and more untouched option reached after a short walk along the coast. Es Carbó feels wild and peaceful, with transparent water and no large buildings around it.
Es Caragol
Located near Cap de Ses Salines, this beach rewards those willing to walk a little further. The landscape feels completely natural, surrounded only by sea, sand and open sky.
Cala Mondragó
Inside the Mondragó Natural Park, this beach combines shallow turquoise water with pine forests and walking paths. Perfect for spending the whole day outdoors.

S’Amarador
Just next to Cala Mondragó, S’Amarador is often considered one of Mallorca’s most beautiful coves. Protected by nature and far from large developments, it’s especially lovely during spring.
In May, beach days in Mallorca still feel simple: no rush, no crowds, just long afternoons by the sea.

Markets, terraces and local life
Spring is also one of the best seasons to discover Mallorca beyond the coast. Village life moves outdoors again and local markets become part of everyday life.
Close to Ca’n Bonico, the Santanyí market is one of the island’s best-known and most enjoyable. Held every Wednesday and Saturday, it fills the streets with local produce, ceramics, linen clothing and artisan products.

The market in Campos, held on Saturdays, is another local favourite, while smaller village markets across the south of the island offer a quieter and more authentic atmosphere.
And as the evenings become warmer, Mallorca naturally moves outdoors again. Long lunches turn into dinners on terraces, wine glasses stay on the table a little longer and there’s a different rhythm in the air.

Stay at Hotel Ca’n Bonico this May
May is one of our favourite moments of the season at Hotel Ca’n Bonico. The gardens are at their best, the days feel slow and sunny and the atmosphere throughout Ses Salines becomes especially pleasant.

Our boutique hotel is designed for travellers looking to experience Mallorca in a calmer and more authentic way. Mornings begin with breakfast in the courtyard, afternoons are spent by the pool or exploring nearby beaches and evenings invite you to slow down and enjoy the island at its best.
If you’re thinking about a Mediterranean escape before summer arrives, we would love to welcome you this season.
