Mallorca is an island of contrasts. With more than 500 kilometres of coastline, over 300 beaches and coves, and around 50 towns and villages scattered across its landscape, every corner of the island offers something different. From dramatic mountain ranges and fertile plains to lively coastal towns and quiet inland villages, Mallorca reveals itself slowly, rewarding those who take the time to explore.
While each region has its own charm, the south of the island holds a special place for us. It’s a part of Mallorca where life moves at a gentler pace, where tradition still shapes everyday routines and where nature, culture and gastronomy come together effortlessly. It’s also where you’ll find Hotel Ca’n Bonico, our home, and the starting point for discovering some of the island’s most characterful towns and villages.
Towns and villages in Mallorca’s south
The area surrounding Ca’n Bonico is, in our view, one of the most beautiful parts of the island. It combines rural landscapes, small towns with strong local identity and easy access to the sea. Each place has its own personality, and together they offer a true sense of southern Mallorca.
Ses Salines
Our home village is calm, authentic and deeply connected to its surroundings. Known for its proximity to the famous salt flats and Es Trenc beach, Ses Salines still feels local and unspoilt. Small cafés, traditional bars and a relaxed atmosphere make it the perfect base for exploring the south of the island without the crowds.

Santanyí
One of the most charming towns in the area, Santanyí is known for its golden stone architecture and lively market held twice a week. Art galleries, independent shops and cafés line its streets, making it a favourite spot for both locals and visitors. It’s a place to wander slowly, enjoy lunch in the square and soak up the town’s creative spirit.
Colònia de Sant Jordi
Set by the sea, Colònia de Sant Jordi offers a more coastal feel. Its harbour, seaside promenades and access to nearby beaches make it ideal for a relaxed day by the water. From here, you can also take a boat to Cabrera National Park, adding a touch of adventure to your stay.

Cala Figuera
This small fishing village feels like a postcard come to life. Narrow inlets, traditional fishermen’s houses and boats gently floating in the water define Cala Figuera’s character. It’s less about beaches and more about atmosphere, making it a beautiful place for a walk, a coffee by the harbour or a quiet lunch.

Sa Ràpita
Close to Es Trenc, Sa Ràpita combines a local village feel with a strong connection to the sea. Its marina, simple restaurants and open views make it a great stop after a beach day. It’s especially lovely in the late afternoon, when the light softens and the day slows down.

Campos
Slightly inland, Campos offers a more traditional Majorcan town experience. Known for its local market, bakeries and everyday life, it’s a place where you can see the island as it really is. It’s also a gateway to the surrounding countryside and nearby beaches.
